Wed. October 28, 2009 (Day 157)

"As time goes on, I realize just what you mean to me
And now, now that you're near, promise your love
That I've waited to share and dreams of our moments together"
- Chicago, Colour My World -

Another quick shot from me today. I used my reliable hurricane Coleman lantern....

Tiny info:

*  D90 + 50mm f/1.8 + Close up HOYA lens (+4, +2) --> this explains a very shallow DOF.
SmugMug > popular all-time > October 22, 2009 - "Sunrise View And Time For A Break"

A short respite from my Yellowstone photos. This was shot at the Mormon Row Historic District near Jackson, Wyoming.
SmugMug > popular all-time > 09/07/09 - The boys and I went to a local private zoo yesterday called Noah's Landing. This place is all about hands-on learning and interaction with the animals. The NC Wildlife Rescue Center out of Sandford was onsite with some of their rescue birds, and this Great Horned Owl was amongst them. I've only ever seen a Great Horned Owl in the wild once, and that was just a silhouette on a power line, so I was ecstatic to get to see one THIS CLOSE.

The boys and I had a superb time. We got to touch an alligator, skunk, opossum and more. We will go back!

I put up a blog post about our visit here:

Besides the great horned owl, they had a red-tailed hawk, a black vulture, a screech owl, and a barred owl. Wow!

Thank you all so much for receiving my black swallowtail picture so well yesterday:-) I took a picture of a red-spotted purple yesterday on the way to Noah's Landing, and that just might be tomorrow's POTD.

I hope you are enjoying the holiday!

I continue my march through my "safety shots," returning to places and things I have photographed before but never posted as my photo of the day. And since I love windows and peeling paint, this shuttered window at the Greenwich Historical Society fit the bill perfectly.
SmugMug > popular all-time > Wet wheat... - Jun 14 2009

No dog shot today although we had an agility trial. We had almost continuous rain all day which made it impossible to shoot agility pictures. During lunch break we had a short dry period and I quickly grabbed some shots of a wheat field nearby. The almost golden wheat was covered with droplets and was real attractive to look at. Too bad the sun wasn't shining to make the golden tones more intense.

Time to get some rest... and some warmth after being soaked to the bone :-(

May 14, 2009
Not sure I like this one, I took several photos of my co-worker's dying bouquet of flowers today and I reluctantly picked this one as the photo of the day. My other choices are in my alternate gallery. http://christinefriberg.smugmug.com/gallery/7924959_mrhiP#536599692_6LjCV
